For many people, a spinal cord injury happens suddenly and without warning. A road traffic accident, a fall, an illness or another unforeseen event can instantly change the course of life.
The transition from being able-bodied to becoming wheelchair-bound or bedridden can be frightening and overwhelming. Survivors often face physical challenges, emotional trauma and uncertainty about the future. Families and caregivers also struggle to adjust to new responsibilities and realities.
However, a spinal injury does not mean the end of life, purpose or dreams.
With the right information, rehabilitation and support, people living with spinal injuries can continue to enjoy productive, fulfilling and meaningful lives. Across the world, many spinal injury survivors are successful entrepreneurs, professionals, leaders and advocates.
