Breaking the Stigma Around Spinal Injuries and Disability
Many people living with spinal injuries face challenges that extend far beyond their physical condition. Social stigma, misconceptions and discrimination often become barriers to education, employment and community participation.
Some people assume that individuals with spinal injuries can no longer contribute meaningfully to society. Others believe that disability means dependence and inability.
These assumptions are simply not true.
People living with spinal injuries have talents, ambitions and abilities. Given equal opportunities, accessibility and support, they can lead independent lives and make valuable contributions to their families and communities.
Building an inclusive society requires all of us to challenge stereotypes, respect human dignity and promote equal opportunities for everyone.
At SISS Uganda, we advocate for inclusion, accessibility and the protection of the rights of people living with spinal injuries and disabilities. Together, we can create communities where everyone belongs and everyone thrives.
